Portman Exposes Reckless Mismanagement in Obamacare CO-OPs
Yesterday, Senator Rob Portman (R-OH), Chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, held a hearing exposing the previously unreported mismanagement, reckless judgment, and taxpayer waste in the Obamacare CO-OP program – a $2.4 billion loan program that launched 23 health insurance start-ups, more than half of which have failed.
A report on Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier highlights Portman’s efforts to combat the reckless mismanagement and taxpayer waste in the Obamacare CO-OP boondoggle.
The Fox News report can be seen here and excerpts of Portman’s remarks are below.
“What we found out is that a lot of bad decisions were made.”
…
“You’re a smart guy. Why should we be having to give you the numbers that are available? Get the numbers yourself.”
Yesterday’s hearing was accompanied by the release of a Majority staff report detailing a number of deeply troubling preliminary findings, which Portman outlines in his opening remarks.
