INFRA Grant Funding Will Help Belmont, Jefferson Counties to Attract New Business and Grow the Region

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) applauded the announcement that the U.S. Department of Transportation will award the Ohio Rail Development Commission more than $16 million in funding as part of the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) competitive grant program. This funding will go towards critical improvements to two rail yards and approximately 30 miles of rail line along the banks of the Ohio River in Jefferson and Belmont County, Ohio:

“This is great news for the people of Southeast Ohio and I want to thank Secretary Chao for her support of these improvements to Ohio’s railways. This grant will enhance capacity and ensure the safety of a crucial stretch of rail along the Ohio River, opening Jefferson and Belmont counties as well as the surrounding area for new business.  I am confident that Secretary Chao’s decision to award these dollars to Ohio Rail Development Commission will help to usher in a new wave of economic development in Southeast Ohio.”
