JACKSON, OH – Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) visited Speyside Bourbon Cooperage, Inc. in Jackson, Ohio. As he did at visits in Belmont and Marietta earlier today, Portman met with workers and listened to them about the issues that mattered most to them. Portman discussed how his bipartisan Regulatory Accountability Act will help make federal regulations smarter and more effective so they better support Ohio businesses, working families, and creating more jobs with better wages. He also discussed the importance of enacting tax reform to help create more jobs, boost wages, and increase investment to help companies like Speyside expand.

Speyside has done a great job of transforming a once-vacant plant into a successful operation that is growing right here in Jackson,” Portman said. “I’m working hard every day to help companies like this in Ohio grow their business, hire more workers and increase wages. By enacting much-need tax reform, and passing my bipartisan Regulatory Accountability Act, Congress can take meaningful steps to create jobs, boost wages, and innovate here in America. I am optimistic that we can get this done.”

Portman’s top priority in the Senate continues to be boosting Ohio jobs and the economy. In recent interviews, Portman has described the urgent need to simplify our tax code and reform our burdensome regulatory system to encourage more job creation and investment in America, and he introduced the bipartisan RAA to do just that. Portman has been named a “Hero of Main Street” and “Fiscal Hero” for his work on these issues.
