Sen. Portman's Response To Budget Impact On NASA Glenn Research Center
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), former director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget and a member of the Senate Budget Committee, today issued the following statement on the budget funding for NASA Glenn Research Center:
“NASA Glenn is a world class facility and it is staffed by hard working Ohioans who are second to none. After seeing that the President’s budget has NASA Glenn Research Center playing a key leadership role in two new technology demonstration projects, I am cautiously optimistic, but as we have seen in recent debates over the future of NASA, we have a long way to go before I feel secure about Glenn’s future, and I will continue to work with the delegation to fight for the great workers at the Center,” said Portman.
Senator Portman recently visited NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland on January 19, 2010 to listen to concerns and get an update from workers and leadership. Portman also met with NASA Glenn Director Ray Lugo, III in Washington on January 24, 2011 to further discuss issues affecting the research center.
