April 5, 2016 | Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) issued the following statement after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved the application of Licking County to use its drone:

“I want to extend my congratulations to Licking County on receiving approval for the use of the county drone from the Federal Aviation Administration.  After hearing about the delay in approval, I was pleased to reach out directly to the FAA to help expedite the county’s application.  This permit will help Licking County work on a variety of important projects, such as the dam reconstruction project at Buckeye Lake.”

Rick Black, Licking County Commissioner, said:

The Licking County Commissioners appreciate all the efforts of Senator Portman to expedite this project so we can work on key economic development projects in the county.”

NOTE: Senator Portman wrote a letter to the Administrator of the FAA in January supporting Licking County’s application for the use of its drone.
