WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Portman released the following statement on Boeing’s $5 million donation for a new building at the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
“Today’s announcement that Boeing will be donating $5 million for a new building at the National Museum of the United States Air Force is great news for Wright-Patterson, the Dayton community, and the State of Ohio. I will continue to work with the Ohio delegation to permanently place a retired Space Shuttle orbiter at Wright-Patterson in Dayton. This is an extremely competitive process, and I commend the museum for strengthening its coalition and case,” said Portman, who recently helped lead the Ohio delegation in sending a letter to NASA Administrator, Maj. Gen. Charles F. Bolden urging him to locate an orbiter at the NMUSAF.
Senator Portman looks forward to helping ensure that the NMUSAF and the Dayton region continue to play a key role in the advancement of aviation and aerospace technologies.
“Wright-Patterson is a world class research center that will play a tremendous role in the economic future of the Miami Valley,” Portman added.
