Portman Announces U.S. Senate Page for Summer 2019 Program
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) announced today that he has appointed Julia Tsarnas, a junior at Green High School in Uniontown, to serve as a U.S. Senate Page for the Summer 2019 program, starting on June 10 and ending on June 28. Julia will have the opportunity to work in the Senate chamber and assist with day-to-day operations at the Capitol.
“We are thrilled to have a future Ohio leader in the Senate this summer,” said Portman. “Julia has demonstrated her talent in academics and extracurricular activities, and we are excited to watch her excel in the fast-paced world of the Senate, as well.”
“I am humbled to have this unique opportunity to work with Senator Portman and his staff. It is a huge honor to serve as a Senate Page and I am eager to learn more about our legislative process firsthand. This experience will undoubtedly inspire me and reinforce my desire to pursue political science in college,” said Tsarnas.
Page responsibilities include delivery of correspondence and legislative materials within the congressional complex, taking messages for members, preparing the chamber for Senate sessions, and carrying bills and amendments to the desk. The Senate Page Program is administrated by the Sergeant at Arms, the Secretary of the Senate, and the party secretaries.
