Portman Adds To Strong Team With New Legislative Director And Press Secretary
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Rob Portman today announced that Pam Thiessen and Christine Mangi will assume the roles of Legislative Director and Press Secretary, respectively, on his Senate staff.
“I am really excited to welcome Pam and Christine to my team. Both are experienced, well-respected and highly effective at what they do and will make an immediate impact in our efforts to turn things around in Ohio and in our nation.” said Senator Portman.
Pam Thiessen will join the Portman team from Senator John Ensign’s office, where she was the Legislative Director and principle adviser on all policy issues. She also served as Staff Director for the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee and as a Senior Policy Adviser at the Joint Economic Committee, giving her a strong background in policy and Senate procedure. She also has Executive Branch experience as Assistant to the Secretary under Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. She is a graduate of Brown University and the London School of Economics.
“Pam is a seasoned veteran of the Senate who knows how to get things done. Her experience and relationships here in the Senate are invaluable and will immediately help our office fight for the people of Ohio,” said Senator Portman.
Christine Mangi will join the Portman team from the Senate Republican Conference Vice Chair’s Office, where she was the Communications Director. Christine also served as Press Secretary for the U.S. Small Business Administration and in other senior communications roles with Assembly Speaker John Gard (WI) and the Republican Party of Wisconsin. She started her career in Wisconsin as a reporter, producer and anchor for WEAU-TV, the NBC affiliate in Eau Claire. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She will work with Jeff Sadosky, who serves as Communications Director in Senator Portman’s office after holding the same role in Rob’s campaign for the Senate.
“Christine’s work both as a communicator and as a journalist gives her the unique experience necessary to make the case for the policies necessary to get spending under control and ultimately turn Ohio’s economy around,” said Senator Portman.
