Portman Statement on August Jobs Report
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) released the following statement on the August jobs report:
“Under President Obama's leadership, far too many Americans can't find a job or have stopped looking for work altogether. Today's jobs report - which shows the lowest workforce participation rate since 1978 - is a reminder that our economic recovery is too slow and not creating enough jobs. Even worse, many businesses are choosing to hire part-time workers instead of full-time to avoid crushing Obamacare regulations.
“As Congress returns to Washington to deal with legislation to fund the government and considers another debt ceiling increase, it's critical that we take steps to reduce our job-killing deficit and pass pro-growth tax and regulatory reforms.”
