Labor Day Message

As families in Ohio and across the country celebrate Labor Day, I want to express my appreciation to working men and women who, with their hard work and dedication, have made America's free enterprise system the envy of the world.

For most Ohioans, today is a well-earned day off, and I hope you enjoy the day with your family and friends. I want to especially acknowledge those working this Labor...
Day – our troops defending our freedom and liberty around the world, and first responders -- police, firefighters and emergency workers -- who so rarely get to observe holidays. We are grateful for your commitment and service.

At the same time, I know many of us are worried about the future with high unemployment and a weak economy. We all have the shared desire to get our economy growing again so more Americans can experience the dignity and self-respect that comes from having a job. By pursuing sensible pro-growth policies, we can do exactly that. And while our country is currently facing challenging economic times, I have great faith that the American spirit will overcome any adversity. We have never shied away from doing what is hard.

Happy Labor Day!
